About ThinkingEngine

Built in a classroom.
For classrooms.

ThinkingEngine didn't start in a startup. It started in a classroom — where the stakes are real, the students are real, and the problem of critical thinking has never been more urgent.

We saw the problem every single day.

After 30+ years in classrooms, we've sat across from students every single day and watched this happen in real time. Students getting sharper at navigating shortcuts and weaker at sitting with a hard question. We've spent hours building lessons designed to develop real reasoning — and watched AI undo that work in seconds.

And then AI arrived in classrooms. Not as a thinking partner. As a shortcut machine. Students stopped wrestling with ideas. They just asked ChatGPT.

"Every other AI tool in education makes the problem worse. We wanted to build the one that makes it better."

ThinkingEngine is our answer to that. Not a product built by engineers who've never set foot in a school. A tool built by educators who have spent their careers inside classrooms — who know what teachers actually need, and what students actually struggle with.

The habit that makes everything else work.

The most important skill we can give a student isn't a fact. It isn't even a subject. It's the ability to reason through anything — to hold a question, challenge their own assumptions, and arrive at a position they can actually defend.

That's the habit. And once it's built, it transfers to everything. Not test scores. Not engagement metrics. The thing that makes a person capable of navigating a complicated world.

ThinkingEngine is designed around one conviction: AI should make students think harder, not less. Every design decision, every dialogue pattern, every teacher report exists to serve that conviction.

You're not trusting a product. You're trusting a person.

We know what it means to be responsible for students. We live it — every day, in classrooms. ThinkingEngine will never chase engagement for its own sake, never optimize for time-on-app, and never give a student an answer that should have been a question.

If you're a teacher considering ThinkingEngine — we built this because we needed it ourselves. We're still in the classroom every day, still learning what it needs to become.
